Balmainâs golden chain motif, originally inspired by Franceâs classic silk-scarf motifs and materialized into singular 3-D ornaments and accessories on Olivier Rousteingâs most recent womenâs runways, has quickly been adopted as a unique rebellion-meets-heritage house signature. The designer has cleverly twisted and inverted symbols of upper-class exclusion, in order to flip the focus and offer a new sort of luxuryâone which is surprisingly fresh and very much of today. âThis is an array of designs that is now open to all,â as Rousteing explains. âThese boldly oversized new house codes reflect the inclusive values of todayâs Balmain."
